Saturn Devouring His Son

Saturn Devouring His Son

Remember The Classics

For centuries, artists have turned to interpreting Greek and Roman mythology as a creative outlet. Today, I sneak humbly into their pantheon.

I have interpretations of other myths to release in the coming days, but I chose this scene to start with because one of my favorite objets d'art explores the very same myth. Feel free to suggest scenes you wish to see interpreted.

A pantheon is a robotic panther!

I want to see the labors of Hercules, and by this I mean I want to see someone else cleaning out my barn so I can take a day off.

bearskinrug

Why, you don't need Hercules for that! A little dynamite will blow that hay off the floor in no time!

HMM

I just want to say thank you for teaching me something about greek and Roman mythology...cause all this time i thought Saturn was only a planet floating about in circles somewhere out there....

And also, thanks for teaching me about pantheons too

The favorite objet d'art you speak of is no doubt "Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps", because of that scene where Josh Brolin destroys that dumb painting in his office after Shia Labeouf tricks him. Oliver Stone is awesome with subtle symbolism.

Well spotted, Paul. Though to be honest, I only watched because I wanted to see the active nightlife of money.

The Abduction of Proserpine?

Vito

The birth of Athena...where she bursts out of Zeus' skull. Bitchin!

bearskinrug

Remi - You know - I never heard of the name Proserpine - I've only heard her as Persephone! I'm learning!

Vito - You know... if I had to give birth to a woman, I think I'd rather it be out of my skull than the more logical place for a man to give birth.

mrchristo

oof. I think I hurt something just reading that.

Hey, thanks for the advice, I'll start blasting tomorrow. And now that I don't need to worry about cleaning up ever again, I'll have more time to read web comics. Perhaps another humorous scene could be created from the release of the Kraken by Poseidon.

The Gordian Knot: [dramatic speech] he who unties the knot will be the king of Asia… and then comes Alexander (at the moment no so) Great: “what’s this mess? Parmenion, bring me the sword! *BLOW* voilà, I am the King”.
I always found this very funny.
BTW, this site is amazing.

Thanks, Gerhard!

mm

I'd like to see a gyro with feta and tzatziki sauce.

bearskinrug

I can combine them. Frankenstein bathing in tzatziki sauce.

As a mother of three, I must say this puts into great doubt the term "food of the Gods" as being a really *good* thing. Children can be summed with my favorite quote: "Nothing this evil could possibly taste good ..." Blech! Cannot imagine why anyone would want to eat child. Beats raising them, though ....
